Berberis thunbergii atropurpurea is bushy deciduous shrub. The plant requires a lot of sun and a well drained soil that is moist. It has rounded deep reddish-purple leaves that become deep red in autumn. Their small red-tinged pale yellow flowers are followed by glossy red berries. At maturity, it will be 1-1,5 meters high.
