L'Hibiscus est un arbuste caduc au port érigé. Les feuilles du cultivar 'Ultramarine' sont trilobées, de couleur vert foncé virant au jaune en automne. Les nombreuses fleurs bleu-violet à gorge striée de pourpre s'épanouissent de juillet à septembre.
