Physocarpus opulifolius 'Summer Wine'is een middelgrote bladverliezende blaasspirea. Het is een meerstammige struik met opgaande, bossige habitus, compact en verfijnd. De bladeren zijn drie tot vijflobbig, getand, diep wijnrood in de lente, naar groen neigend in de zomer, ovaal tot rond. Deze blaasspirea bloeit in mei en juni met witte, tot rozewitte geurende bloemen in tuilen die bijen en vlinders aantrekken.
