Informazioni su questa pianta
Anemone
Anemones or windflowers (Anemone) belong to the buttercup family and grow wild in temperate and cold regions of the northern hemisphere, in light woodland and moist meadows. The genus ranges from small spring-flowering plants to tall perennials that bloom in late summer, all with simple, open, bowl-shaped flowers around a ring of stamens.
Anemone hybrida
Anemone x hybrida, the Japanese anemone, is a garden hybrid descended largely from the Chinese Anemone hupehensis var. japonica and the Himalayan A. vitifolia. It forms vigorous clumps of lobed, dark green leaves, above which wiry, upright stems carry single or double white or pink flowers from August to October. Mature plants usually reach about 1 to 1.5 m.
Esposizione e terreno
Prefers partial shade or gentle morning or evening sun, in rich, humus-rich soil that stays cool but drains well. It copes poorly with very chalky soil and with wet feet in winter. It is very hardy and comes through hard Belgian winters without protection.
Potatura e cura
Plants take a year or two to settle, then flower more freely each year and spread by suckers; contain them with a root barrier where needed. Tall stems may need support. Cut the dried stems back to the base in late autumn, around November.
Utilizzo in giardino
One of the most valuable perennials for late-season colour in partial shade: at the back of borders, at the foot of trees, in white gardens and naturalistic plantings, and in large pots. It combines well with asters, hydrangeas, hostas and grasses, and the flowers make simple, fresh bouquets.
