Informazioni su questa pianta
Acer
Maples (Acer) form a large genus of trees and shrubs, nearly all from the northern hemisphere and many from China. They range from small multi-stemmed trees to large shade trees. Their opposite, usually lobed leaves, colourful young growth, winged fruits and above all their fiery autumn colours make them garden classics.
Acer ginnala
The Amur maple, now often listed as Acer tataricum subsp. ginnala, grows wild from the Russian Far East to Korea and northern China. It is a large shrub or small multi-stemmed tree. The three-lobed leaves have a long central lobe and turn yellow, orange and scarlet in autumn. Fragrant creamy flowers in spring are followed by red-tinged winged fruits.
Esposizione e terreno
Sun or partial shade; the autumn colour is strongest in full sun. Undemanding about soil: from slightly acid to chalky, and clay as long as it does not stay waterlogged. Tolerates wind, air pollution, road salt and short dry spells once established. Very hardy.
Potatura e cura
Easy to grow. It can be left as a natural multi-stemmed shrub or gradually trained into a small tree by removing the lower branches between December and February. Hedges can be trimmed in June. Leave enough room for the crown to spread.
Utilizzo in giardino
A good small shade tree as a specimen on a lawn, in a free-growing country hedge, a windbreak or a mixed shrub group, for example with red-stemmed dogwoods and viburnums. Also suitable for streets, exposed sites and bonsai.
