Aesculus neglecta 'Autumn Fire'
The Aesculus neglecta autumn fire is a delightful small tree. It produces copper coloured young foliage which turns to dark-green in the summer before when automn is around the corner, it starts getting shades of orange, yellow and red. When May arrives it gets creamy white panicles of flowers that stand upright against the back drop of dark foliage.

Aesculus
Horse chestnuts and buckeyes (Aesculus) are deciduous trees and shrubs from Europe, Asia and above all North America. They range from compact shrubs of about 2 m to stately park trees. Their hand-shaped leaves and upright candles of white, yellow, pink or red flowers in late spring or summer make them favourite ornamental and bee plants.
Aesculus neglecta
Aesculus neglecta is a small North American buckeye that forms a short trunk with a rounded crown. Its young leaves unfold in striking bronze to coppery tones, turn light green and colour orange-red early in autumn. In May or early June it bears small candles of pale yellow flowers that deepen to salmon pink.
Stanowisko i gleba
Plant in sun or partial shade, in an ordinary garden soil that is not too dry. Very hardy. It grows slowly and remains a small tree, so it fits well in smaller gardens.

Water regularly in the first years after planting. Little pruning is needed: shape the young crown if desired and later only remove crossing branches, avoiding large cuts. It is generally resistant to the diseases that affect large horse chestnuts and is easy to grow.

A colourful small tree for gardens, front gardens and courtyards, valued for its spring foliage and early autumn colour. The flowers attract pollinating insects. The oval nuts that follow are toxic if eaten.
