Astilbe can be the perfect choice for damp, shady corners on soil that may be waterlogged from time to time. Plants are bushy and easy to maintain. Elisabeth van Veen has beautiful, raspberry-purple plumes from early summer.
Astilbe can grow in sun as well as dappled shade, and make an excellent addition to mixed cottage garden borders, or can be grown as a patio plant for summer colour.
