Carpinus betulus
The carpinus betulus also known as the European hornbeam is a large tree that has a grey trunk. His leaves are up to 5-8cm long and are ovate, conspicuously ribbed and turns yellow during autumn. Catkins open in spring, followed by hop-like fruiting catkins to 8cm. Plant this tree in a well drained soil with a lot of sun.
