A dense, slow growing, often multi-trunked conifer that forms a rounded, pyramidal shape, and can grow to 14 m tall and 6 m wide. Can, and usually is, pruned in cultivation to many different shapes. Leaves are glossy, dark green on top and dull, light green below. Grow in full sun or part shade. The red berries this conifer produces are edible, all other parts are very poisonous.
