Seneca is selected from a batch of self pollinated seedlings for its abundance of flowers and fruit. A large shrub with dark green foliage growing 4,5 to 6 m high and nearly as wide making it a good candidate when grown as a single or miltistemmed ornamental tree. Massive creamy-white flowers bloom May to early June followed by orange-red fruits progressing to blood-red, finally maturing to black. Fruits are supported above the foliage on red pedicels which remain effective long after the fruits have fallen.
