The Clethra barbinervis is a deciduous large shrub that have a nice attractive bark. His green leaves are obovate and are up to 12cm in length. They turn red/orange during autumn. His stem is brown/orange. Small fragrant white flowers are borne in clustered racemes in late summer and autumn. This plant grows best in a moist but well drained soil and in a spot that is partially shaded or fully shaded.
