Taxus media 'Hicksii'
This hybrid yew cultivar is a dense, narrowly columnar, evergreen shrub with ascending branching. Typically matures to a height of 5,5-6 m with a spread of 1,8-3 m wide after 20 years. More often seen as a 2,5-3 m tall plant, however. Yews are classified as conifers, but female plants (yews are dioecious) produce red, fleshy, single-seeded fruit instead of cones. 'Hicksii' is available in both male and female types. Two-ranked foliage is lustrous, dark green above and lighter green below.
